Treatment program for lower back, neck, and shoulder complaints
What are shoulder complaints?
What is lower back pain?
Approximately 80 percent of adults in the Netherlands experience back pain at some point. Everyday activities become difficult and painful due to back pain. Sometimes it comes on suddenly, sometimes it creeps in slowly. In most cases, the body recovers well within a week and you can rely on your back again. However, sometimes the symptoms persist, and proper treatment is important to get rid of the pain as quickly as possible. This allows you to move pain-free again and perform your daily activities. Back pain is different for everyone, and the treatment for your back is personalized and tailored.
What are neck complaints?
Neck pain is bothersome and prevents you from moving freely. Looking around or driving suddenly becomes a painful experience. The pain may come on suddenly, caused by making a wrong movement, or it may develop gradually. Neck pain is troublesome and always comes at an inconvenient time. After back pain, neck pain is the most common complaint related to movement. Proper treatment of neck pain ensures (rapid) improvement and optimal recovery. This allows you to move pain-free again and perform your daily activities.
What does the physiotherapist do?
What is ZorgTopics?
Zorgtopics is a cooperative in which practices collaborate to develop the best possible care for non-specific lower back, neck, and shoulder complaints. The care plans represent quality of care and are developed by professionals based on national guidelines and current scientific insights.
What is a care plan?
Your physiotherapist is specially trained to treat complaints using the care plan. In the care plan, we distinguish between different types of pain that may affect your complaint. This depends on the symptoms you are experiencing. During the treatment process, a care plan provides good guidance to the physiotherapist, allowing for the use of various tools such as E-health. For example, it is possible to receive remote guidance throughout the treatment process. This may consist of information about your complaint, consultation with your physiotherapist, or online exercises. This allows you to work on your recovery at home, either independently or together with your physiotherapist. The use of E-health is determined in consultation with your physiotherapist.
Is this course of treatment reimbursed by the health insurer?
Yes, the care plans are reimbursed from your supplementary health insurance. The treatments you receive from your physiotherapist are deducted from the physiotherapy reimbursement under your supplementary insurance. Please check with your health insurer regarding the number of treatments you are entitled to.
I am insured with Menzis or VGZ. How will this affect my supplementary insurance?
The health insurer will use a number of treatments from your supplementary insurance for the reimbursement to the physiotherapist:
- Menzis uses a fixed number of treatments per care severity profile for this; therefore, the number of treatments covered by your supplementary insurance may not correspond to the actual number of treatments provided.
- VGZ uses the actual number of treatments and contact moments.
- The other insurers charge for the consultations at the standard physiotherapy rate.
