Neurorehabilitation (CNA)
After completing physiotherapy training, a physiotherapist has followed an advanced training course in neurorehabilitation. Neurorehabilitation refers to central neurological disorders (CND). The most common central neurological disorders are CVA (cerebral hemorrhage or cerebral infarction), Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and dementia, but other conditions and muscle diseases also fall under this category.
In neurorehabilitation, treatment may consist of a multidisciplinary approach, but it can also be monodisciplinary, meaning solely physiotherapeutic treatment. This depends on the problems the patient is experiencing. Patients primarily perform exercises to counteract the loss of mobility and independence. Physiotherapy mainly consists of practicing and training (daily) activities that cause problems. The goal of physiotherapy is to enable you to continue performing existing activities for as long as possible and to maintain self-reliance at home. If you are unable to come to the practice, the physiotherapist can visit you at home.
