Manual therapy

What is manual therapy?

Children learn through play. By moving and playing, children develop their senses and motor skills. Some children experience delayed or atypical development. This can be caused by a disorder affecting the senses, organs, nervous system, or musculoskeletal system. As a result, children may gain insufficient motor experience. They need more practice to master a specific skill. All these children can benefit from treatment by a pediatric physiotherapist.

What is manual therapy?

If you experience back pain and movement of the spine is reduced and/or painful, manual therapy can offer a solution. The manual therapist uses a number of specific techniques, such as mobilizations and manipulations, that can be applied to the joints. The goal is to improve the movement and function of the joints. Correcting posture is also part of the treatment. The effects of the treatment are often immediately noticeable.

A manual therapist has completed a specialized Master's program after physiotherapy training, focusing on the examination and treatment of the spine, back, and neck in particular, but also on complaints in the arms and legs.
